Helius CEO Warns of Crypto’s ’Straw Houses’ as AI Demands Higher Security Standards
Helius Labs CEO Mert Mumtaz has issued a stark warning about the crypto industry's preparedness for the next era of security challenges. Drawing parallels to aerospace engineering and chip manufacturing, Mumtaz argues that blockchain protocols must achieve spaceflight-level reliability to survive in an AI-driven landscape.
"Immutable financial code is akin to a spaceship leaving Earth that you have no further control over. It must work, or there will be catastrophe," Mumtaz stated in a widely circulated post. The comments come as the industry grapples with increasing smart contract vulnerabilities and high-profile exploits.
The Helius CEO traced historical parallels to the 1960s 'software crisis' when NATO first recognized the dangers of sloppy programming practices. Today's crypto infrastructure, he suggests, faces similar growing pains but with higher stakes due to the irreversible nature of blockchain transactions.
